Earlier this week I read about the fantastic achievement of Roger Allsopp, the 70 year old Grandfather of three, who has become the oldest person to swim the English Channel.

Roger’s incredible success saw him swim 21 nautical miles in 17 hours and 51 minutes. Extremely impressive and even more so when you take into account that Roger is the grand age of 70 years and 4 months.

The achievement is without a doubt astounding but what I find so wonderful is how much money and awareness Roger has raised for cancer research thanks to his Channel swim.

The retired surgeon, who has a sporty past having ran the London marathon aged 60 and previously swam the English Channel aged 65, has managed to raise a breath taking £750,000 which will go towards funding world class medical equipment for cancer research.

The entire Bath-Knight team would like to send Roger huge congratulations on his record breaking swim- well done!
