What an absolute delight to see Ashleigh and her very talented doggie Pudsey crowned the winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2012 on Saturday night.

I wouldn’t normally watch Britain’s Got Talent but I was intrigued to see who would actually win as the office had been buzzing all week talking about their favourite performers:

Natalia and Kyle where very popular in the office with their twist on ballroom dancing although their performance was unfortunately not at as good as previous, due to Natalia’s leg injury although it was a very commendable effort to still perform in such pain.

The other favourite in the office, as well as the doggie, seemed to be the Loveable Rouges, three very talented young men that surprisingly didn’t finish in the top three.

I must say that all the contestants did remarkably well, Only Boys Aloud came third and second place went to the amazing voices of Jonathon and Charlotte even though they didn’t win at only 17 and 16 they truly have a remarkable career ahead of them as I’m sure Simon Cowell and other producers will be scooping up as much of the talent from the show as they can.

As well as winning the glorious title of Britain’s Got Talent, a staggering £500,000 cash prize, Ashleigh and Pudsey now have a performance at The Royal Variety Performance where Her Majesty the Queen will be in attendance to plan and look forward to.

At only 17, Ashleigh has said that she will be spending some of the money on a new lead for Pudsey as they lost his on Saturday night and that she has always wanted to have her own business for film work for dogs or animals, it sounds like the prize money will be able to turn her dreams into reality especially with Pudsey now being insured for 1 million pounds and already estimated at earning over 5 million during his doggie years.

Big congratulations to top dog – BGT Winners Ashleigh and Pudsey 2012!

Annette's websites of the week

Britain’s Got TalentThe country seems to be gripped by Britain’s Got Talent after a series of live semi-finals this week. With the 10 finalists now selected everyone is looking forward to Saturday night’s live final show (ITV, 7.30pm) where the public will choose the 2012 BGT winner who will receive an enormous £500,000 and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Show in front of the Queen.

I’ve really enjoyed this year’s show but I have to admit that I’ve not had chance to watch every semi-final show so I am a little behind on which acts got through to the final. Luckily the Britain’s Got Talent website is packed with all of the latest news from the semi-final shows including profiles of this year’s finalists, videos of their performances and exclusive interviews with contestants and judges.

So if you’re planning on watching the Britain’s Got Talent final this weekend checkout the website before hand to find out more about your favourite act. I’m backing the ‘paw-some’ duo Ashleigh and Pudsey because I can’t help but adore a dancing doggy.

London 2012 Olympic Games- This summer’s Olympic Games seem to be edging ever closer and this week a handful of events have taken place to ramp up the excitement including The School Games and the lighting of the Olympic Flame. Today the Olympic Orbit Tower, a steel sculpture designed by Anish Kappor was officially opened too.

The statement sculpture, which has caused a dived between people who love it and loath it, boasts a structure that is taller than New York’s Statue of Liberty and a observational suite that offers panoramic views of London. I’m yet to decide whether or not I like the design- what do you think?

In addition to the opening of Orbit Tower an extra 200,000 Olympic tickets were released this morning to Olympic applicants who were unsuccessful in securing tickets for the Games during earlier ticket distributions. With tickets to most events on offer, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, I’m sure that there will be lots of very happy Olympic customers by the end of today.

Check out the London 2012 website for more information on event, venues etc…

Age UK Care in CrisisThis week’s Queen’s Speech to open parliament disappointed many people including those who had hoped for a change in the social care system. Instead of a full social care bill been announced the speech revealed that only a draft bill on social care would be drawn up by the government this year.

Care in Crisis

Please support Age UK’s Care in Crisis campaign

For charities such as Age UK who have campaigned for change the draft bill is deeply unsatisfying. Despite this Age UK is still steaming ahead in their campaign for change in social care. To achieve a full bill next year they need to secure as much support as possible, which is why Age UK want as many people as possible to sign up to their Care in Crisis petition.

The online petition takes less than a couple of minutes to complete and includes a full and in depth insight into the whole Care in Crisis campaign, which I believe is worthwhile supporting because it could eventually help implement crucial change to the care system that we will all use at one point or another- sign the petition here.

Britain's Got Talent Mobile App

Britain’s Got Talent has become a phenomenon with Saturday night television audiences. Although I’ve only watched a couple of episodes (I like the doggie auditions) it’s a fantastic show which boasts huge variety and the winner’s prize is pretty spectacular too – a performance in front of The Queen at The Royal Variety Show.

Now fans of Britain’s Got Talent can join in the fun by playing along at home via their smartphones. The Britain’s Got Talent mobile app (available on iPhones) provides users with their own red buzzer which allows them to buzz during the show just like judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.

The app also hooks up with Facebook so you can see which contestants your family and friends do and don’t like. All in all a great free application which will adds a new dimension to Britain’s Got Talent- follow this link to download.

Britain’s Got Talent returns for 2012 series

The new series of Britain’s Got Talent aired on Saturday evening seeing the return of Simon Cowell and welcoming brand new judges Alesha Dixon, formerly of Strictly Come Dancing and comedian David Walliams. All of whom were joined by actress and established BGT judge Amanda Holden.

This year’s series faces stiff competition from a new BBC talent show called The Voice, a singing contest which focuses directly on the contestants’ voice rather than the way they look or their background.

Britain's Got Talent judges 2012

I managed to catch a little of both programs over the weekend and although I enjoyed The Voice- I think it’s great that the legendary Tom Jones is a mentor on the show- I have to admit that I do enjoy the variety which Britain’s Got Talent has to offer.

The audition which really stood out to me and has been featured heavily in the press since Saturday’s show was by opera duo Charlotte and Jonathan. The teenagers were greeted with some hesitation from the judges at first but once they started to sing everyone was utterly mesmerised. Jonathon has even been hailed as the “new Susan Boyle” which is high praise indeed. Watch their audition in the video below…

I’d be really interested to hear about which show you preferred over the weekend the BBC’s new programme The Voice or ITV’s old favourite Britain’s Got Talent. Leave a comment below to let me know.

Britain’s Got Talent: The final

Big congratulations to Jai McDowall who won the Britain’s Got Talent final on Saturday night.

The winning performance saw Jai sing Josh Groban’s ‘To Where You Are’, which received a great response from the judges and audience alike- I enjoyed the performance but I was a little surprised that Jai won the competition.

The shock result saw Jai beat the hot favourite, 12 year old Ronan Parke to the top and squashed any ‘fix vote’ claims. Ronan who sang beautifully came second, closely followed by boy band New Bounce who placed 3rd in the competition.

Musical acts were clearly the viewer’s favourite after other performances fell a little flat. I was slightly disappointed with impressionist Les Gibson whose previous performances were brilliant. However, he failed to pull off an impression of Simon Cowell on Saturday’s show which led to disappointment.

Winner Jai McDowall will perform in front of HRH the Queen at the Royal Variety Show. Congratulations!

Annette's websites of the week

House to Home-

house to home logo

I’m a huge fan of House to Home as it’s a great site to flick through whilst having a coffee and pondering over decorating ideas.

Packed with photos and ideas of how to make your home perfect and to your taste the site covers all areas of the home; from the usual living room, bedroom and bathroom plus great ideas for guest rooms, conservatories and how to efficiently make the most out of office space.

With fabulous link to interior retailers, specialist tradesmen and even special offers it really is worth checking out. I’m certain that you will come away with some great ideas for your house and home.

Ultimate Dog Tease- YouTube

Ok. I might be breaking the rules a little here because this isn’t really a website but it’s a Friday so why not.

The ‘Ultimate Dog Tease’ which is featured on Youtube was sent to me by a friend earlier this week. There are tons of funny animal videos online but this one is not only adorable it’s funny and lighthearted and just a great clip to share.

With over 35 million views the Ultimate Dog Tease is most definitely a hit- if only my dogs would talk to me like that.

Britain’s Got Talent-

britains got talent

I’ve been watching Britain’s Got Talk this week and I must say that I am really impressed with some of the finalists. Steven Hall and Les Gibson are my favourites. Both are fantastically funny and so entertaining- essential for the Royal Variety.

The official Britain’s Got Talent site is really great and the perfect place to catch up with anything that you might have missed. I went on this morning to find out the details of Simon’s surprise… seen as I was getting a cup of tea during the big reveal on last night’s show.

The site is really handy and with videos, exclusives and the latest news you can find out all you need to know about Britain’s Got Talent.

Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Final- Steven Hall

Britain’s Got Talent has run into controversy this morning with an alleged ‘fix’ vote. I really hope that this doesn’t take away from the fantastic performance by Steven Hall on last night’s show.

Steven, a Tele-communications engineer from Kendal transformed into a dancing comic genius at the semi-final show. His humorous dance routine incorporated different styles of dance with everything from Greek, Bombay Bollywood, Tango and even Cheerleading.

I was really impressed with Steven’s dance moves and how entertaining the act was- funny, energetic and totally unexpected. Brilliant!

Britain’s Got Talent- Semi Finals- Lee Gibson & James Hobley

Britain’s Got Talent is the talk of the office today as impressionist Les Gibson seems to be everyone’s favourite act so far.

Les, whose performance in the live semi-finals last night landed him a place in the final at the weekend, wowed me and the rest of the audience with fantastic impressions of our favourite famous faces.

He wonderfully took off Apprentice star Sir Alan Sugar, top chef Gordon Ramsey, X Factor judge Louise Walsh, Ex Eastender Ross Kemp and my favourite of the evening Britain’s Got Talent presenter Dec Donnelly.

A fantastically funny performance- a very worthy finalist!

James Hobley, an 11 year old who suffers from autism also won a place in the final last night after impressing the judges and the viewers alike.

James’ contemporary dance performance was beautiful to watch and I am really delighted that he has seen such great success on the show. Good Luck!

The Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Finals are being shown on ITV every evening this week, and not only are the semi-finalist performing in front of a live audience, with thousands watching at home.  Simon Cowell has returned to the judging panel amid lots of Cheryl Cole/X Factor controversy.

I have to be honest and say that other than watching a couple of early auditions (I loved the dancing dogs from the audition process) I haven’t had a chance to watch it every weekend. So a whole week’s worth of potential Royal Variety performances is great!

I had to share the most intriguing performance that I’ve seen so far with you. The performance by Magicians and Illusionists David and Karen was quite spectacular and left me wonder ‘how an earth did they do that..?’ I can’t wait to see their next performance.

Britain’s Got Talent- Donelda Guy and dancing dogs

I know that I am supposed to be blogging about the Royal Wedding this week, however I couldn’t help but steer away just a little for this post.

I briefly caught the new series of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ this weekend and was stunned by Donelda Guy and her dancing dogs.

They were just incredible, such wonderful dogs and so very talented. As a dog lover myself I thought that the act was superb and so much better than I anticipated. If only I could teach my dogs, Summer and Toffee to dance so gracefully.
