As the Queen celebrated 60 years on the throne earlier this week, marking the start of the Diamond Jubilee, further details have been released about national events taking place in the summer to mark the special occasion.

Yesterday it was announced that a music spectacular will be held on Monday 4th June outside the great gates of Buckingham Palace. The music concert simply titled ‘Diamond Jubilee Concert’ has been organised by musician Gary Barlow, and I have to say that the line-up looks extremely impressive.

Using artists and performers who cover each decade of the Queen’s reign, the Jubilee concert will be headlined by former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, who will be joined by the likes of Sir Tom Jones, Sir Cliff Richard, Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Elton John.

Bridging the gap for younger audience members’ pop star Jessie J, musician Ed Sheeran and boy band JLS will also be performing with more acts to be confirmed. It has been suggested that Prince William and Prince Harry are actively involved in who they’d like to see at the event which is honouring their grandmother’s reign.

Tickets for the event will be like gold dust. However, organisers have implemented a fair public ballot system for anyone who would like to attend. Simply apply online at www.bbc.co.uk/diamondjubilee or via post from there a lucky dip will take place ensuring complete fairness. So once you’ve applied it really is a case of keeping your fingers crossed.

Lucky ticket holders will also be granted admission to Buckingham Palace Gardens where you can enjoy a complimentary Jubilee picnic hamper. I was lucky to join the Queen for lunch at Buckingham Palace only a few years ago and it is magnificent, steeped in such history and tradition. So I’ve got my fingers crossed for Diamond Jubilee Concert Tickets and wish you the very best of luck too.
