Sometimes words can’t describe our feelings on Valentine’s Day, so we thought we’d put together our favourite pictures of Valentine’s Day 2012… Enjoy!

Her first Valentine’s Day as The Duchess of Cambridge sadly had to be spent without the company of husband The Duke of Cambridge who is currently in the Falkland’s. Despite such the Duchess carried out one of her first solo engagements today in the city of Liverpool.

During her time in the city, Catherine received lots of cards and flowers. However, our favourite was the beautiful bunch of red roses and love heart cupcake from eight year old Jaqson who’d prepared a speech to say upon meeting the Duchess.

It has also been revealed that a Valentine’s Day card sent by Princess Diana in 1989, a practical joke she played on one of her favoured royal housekeepers, has been sold at auction for a whopping £8000.

In China a girl has been photographed wearing a dress made from 9,999 red rose. Whilst wearing the rose petal dress her partner proposed asking for her hand in marriage. The couple hope that the 9,999 roses will bring them good luck.

Meanwhile I’ve found some adorable Valentine’s Day animals- micro pigs, penguins and even giraffes. Even those who prefer not to celebrate or acknowledge Valentine’s Day will find it difficult to resist saying ‘aww’.

Today it has been announced that the Duchess of Cambridge is to become the Royal Patron of four UK charities as she extends her royal duties branching out with personal projects.

Much like the charity work of her husband, Prince William and his late mother Princess Diana, Kate’s charity work centres mainly on young people and children. Kate is said to have handpicked her chosen charities each carefully reflecting her personal interests such as art and sports.

Action on Addiction work to help young people with drug and alcohol abuse, EACH is an East Anglian hospice dedicated to caring for terminally ill youngsters whilst The Art Room implements art therapy to emotional distressed and disruptive school children. The most well know the National Portrait Gallery showcases some of the finest art in the world, a topic which Kate is certainly fond of having studied art during her time at St. Andrews University.

The selection is rather impressive as the charities range from extremely well known organisations to smaller charities whose profiles will most certainly be boosted by the Duchesses involvement. Plus each of Kate’s charities sits alongside the charity work of Princes William so wonderfully.

In addition to her new Royal Patron roles it has also been revealed that Kate will now spend some of her spare time volunteering with the Scouts Association, swapping her famous style for the official Scouts uniform- neckerchief included.

As a former Brownie I’m sure her work with the Scouts involving camping trips, overseeing sporting activities and helping out with Beavers in North Wales, will bring back fond early memories, and hopefully encourage others to volunteer too. Like anyone else the Duchess is said to have been screened with a CRB check ensuring that she is an appropriate choice further endorsing that she will be treated like any other volunteer.

Today’s announcement comes as little surprise as we’re yet to have seen the Duchess do any solo engagements. The New Year seems like the perfect chance for her to do so and I’m very much looking forward to it. Undoubtedly she will do a superb job and I can’t wait to see her transform into, what I’m sure will be, a rather royal Scout Leader.

Annette's websites of the week

Excited by today’s news of The Royal Wedding Dress exhibition? We have the perfect website for you. The Royal Collection site is the official site to purchase tickets to the annual summer show at Buckingham Palace, and contains endless information about the event and other exhibitions taking place in royal venues throughout the year.

I’ve found myself looking at lots of different occasions; I really like the sound of ‘Treasures from the royal library, Windsor Castle’. So this site could be a really great place to find some inspiration for day trips.

Plus the site also host an official Royal Collection shop, which is sales beautiful designed royal pieces such as chinaware and decorative pieces. Perfect for gifts or a great way to celebrate a great year for the royal family.

Earlier this week I blogged about the Parent Bloggers Network hosted by www.netmums.com, an online hub of great blogs which are all written by parents who are willing to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences with others.

I think the blogging network is a brilliant idea, as finding blog you like can be tasking. And, having explored more of www.netmums.com I was really impressed.

The main premises is parenting and offering realistic advice. But what I like most about the site is how practical everything appears to be. With a region tool, viewers can adapt the site to suit their needs and get information which is accessible to them- a really helpful, friend and down to earth site.

  • Paddy Jones, Oldest Salsa Dancer

A new feature on day time TV show This Morning called ‘OAP of the week’ brought 77 year old paddy Jones to our attention this morning. Paddy from the West Midlands, who now lives in Spain, is the oldest salsa dancer in the world.

Returning to dance after her husband passed away, Paddy has seen great success despite her age. She even won the Spanish version of Britain’s Got Talent after a jaw dropping performance.

I’ve chosen to include a video of Paddy, which was film 2 years ago following her entry into the world record books. To see her dancing so wonderfully is simply inspiring with such a positive outlook on life I think Paddy is someone we should all aspire too.

The Royal Wedding was without a doubt the event of 2011. Here at Bath-Knight we all enjoyed the royal couples big day and my blog was host to countless ‘royal wedding’ themed posts, which all got great responses.

It’s fair to say that Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, in which she transformed into the Duchess of Cambridge, captured the nation. The photographs of Kate emerging from the car outside Westminster Abbey have become icon, as we all gasped with sheer joy to see how beautiful the new royal looked.

It’s with great excitement that everyone is invited to see the Duchesses dress up close as a variety of royal wedding pieces are going on display at the annual summer exhibition at Buckingham Palace.

Visitors will be able to see the Alexander McQueen wedding dress, which is displayed in the Ball Room and surprising not behind a glass screen. Along with the Duchesses size 5.5 wedding shoes, wedding day earrings and also the Cartier tiara which was lent by the Queen.

Even better the wedding cake, which is cut by the royal couple, is on display. It’s said that the top layer is a replica as Prince William and Kate decided to keep the top layer as many do traditionally.

The summer show at Buckingham Palace this year looks to be a wonderful event with reports this morning suggesting that tickets are selling quickly. I hope I get a chance to visit myself to relive the enjoyment of the royal wedding.
