Gloomy weather for the British summer

After so much anticipation surrounding this year’s British summer, thanks to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, London 2012 Olympic Games and a host of cultural events it’s an enormous shame that the weather has been so miserable.

The news this morning was dominated by weather stories after thousands of Isle of Wight festival goers were left stranded in their cars overnight due to the site being waterlogged. Sports fans have been left disappointed as England’s cricket match was forced to be cancelled this afternoon, and those dressed to the nines at Royal Ascot are probably wishing they’d worn a raincoat and wellies!

Sadly the forecast for this weekend doesn’t hold much hope either. So how can we get out of the miserable weather blues? I’m planning on making the most of the weekend indoors by spending some time quilting and of course, I’ll tune in for the England vs. Italy game on Sunday with my fingers crossed that they get through to the Euro’s semi-finals.

Have a wonderful weekend and don’t get too drenched. Umbrella’s at the ready…!

Excitement is building ahead of tonight’s Euro 2012 match which will see England play against the tournaments host’s Ukraine. The match kicks off at 7.45pm and is estimated to be watch by millions as Wayne Rooney is predicted to return to the pitch, and play his first Euro 2012 game, after serving a two match ban.

Good Luck England euro 2012

Although I’m not a huge follower of football I do appreciate the excitement for this evening’s game as the stakes are high. If England win or draw they will progress to the quarter finals and be one step closer to success. The Bath-Knight team and I wish the England squad all the very best- fingers crossed for a win!

This evening the UEFA EURO 2012 football tournament will kick off with Poland playing against Greece. The tournament is one which my family gets particularly excited about because we live across Europe and each have our own alliances.

Dotted around England, France, Italy, Scotland and Wales we’ve got plenty of football to look forward to and it will be interesting to see who the Scots and Welsh decide to support since their teams didn’t make it to the EURO’s.

EURO 2012

The tournament held in Poland and Ukraine has raised some concern in recent week as reports of racism amongst local football fans expected to attend the games have been reported. UEFA have agreed to set precautions against such behaviour and this will hopefully eradicate any racism throughout the EURO’s so that the tournament can be enjoyed by all.

England’s first game against France (I’ll be cheering for England, my grandchildren will be cheering for France) kicks off on Monday 11th June – for all fixtures of EURO 2012 click here.
