Fashion is a great way of expressing yourself but often it’s easy to get stuck in a rut especially when you’re getting older. I know that lots of women question if they are ‘too old’ to wear certain garments and consequently give up on fashion all together.

So it’s brilliant to hear that supermodel Twiggy, who is now 62 years old, has launched her debut collection with Marks and Spencer Woman. The summer collection, which is available exclusively online now, is full of stylish wardrobe essentials and one off special occasion pieces that truly are fantastic high street purchases for women who want to remain fashionable despite their age.

What I like about the collection is that Twiggy has designed it with herself and other women of her age in mind. She’s used feminine colours and sophisticated patterns with tailored cuts and soft fabrics that all complement women whatever age they may be.

And the variety is endless as Twiggy’s Mark and Spencer collection includes flattering dresses, stylish trousers, blouses and statement jackets plus a selection of accessories which pull all of the outfits together perfectly.

Along with designing the collection Twiggy can also be seen modelling the outfits on the Marks and Spencer website, where you will also be able to see her in the Marks and Spencer Jubilee TV advert alongside Dannii Minogue, Myleen Klass and Jamie Redknapp with music from Gary Barlow.

Happy New Year

On behalf of myself and my team I would like to wish everyone a very happy New Year and all the best for 2012.

After a wonderful festive period I’ll be using this time to relax and recuperate before the hard work of the New Year begins. Now is the perfect time to hit the shops and indulge in the famous January sales. For those of you who prefer to avoid the high street at busy times, go digital and check out sales online.

My favourites including Marks and Spencer, Next, Debenhams and John Lewis, all great British brands who have online sales offering brilliant value and a great selection.

We’re back in the office on 3rd January. Until then have a wonderful New Year!

Recycling Christmas cards with Wood Land Trust

Christmas cards are a lovely way to send personalised wishes to friends and family. However, when it’s time to pack away the decorations I often wonder what people do with their cards.

recycling christmas cardsThere are plenty of ways to reuse decorative cards like turning them into jewellery boxes or gifts tags. However, if you’re not the crafty type don’t be tempted to just throw cards into the bin.

Instead recycle your Christmas cards with The Woodland Trust who offer a recycling programme throughout January in branches of T.K Maxx and Marks and Spencer and participating supermarkets. Simply take along any unwanted cards and deposit them in the units provided.

The Woodland Trust’s Christmas card recycling system started in 1998 and since 600 million cards have entered the recycling scheme helping the Woodland Trust plant over 200,000 trees, which is rather remarkable.

Alternatively, plan ahead and purchase cards which offer a recycling element. This year’s Bath-Knight season greetings cards were from World Land Trust and cleverly incorporated a corrugated edge, allowing the card design to be easily torn away and reused as a postcard.

Annette's websites of the week

The X Factor– This weekend is The X Factor final and after months of auditions, boot camp and live shows the winner will finally be announced and crowned The X Factor 2011 champion.

In the running to win this weekend’s big finale is girl band (and Bath-Knight office favourites) Little Mix, Marcus Collins and Amelia Lily who was voted back into the show after the impromptu exit of Frankie Cocozza.

If like me you’ve missed a couple of episode from this year’s The X Factor the official website is packed with the latest news, previous performances and exclusive looks at the finalist which you won’t find elsewhere.

Additionally the site includes beauty and fashion tips with the help of The X Factor’s new partnerships including brands such as Rimmel London and Marks and Spencer. Overall the site is a real success and gives a great insight to the show- a must view site if you’re planning on watching this weekend’s final.

mands logoMarks and SpencerFor me and many of my friends Marks and Spencer is a safe haven, especially around Christmas time. With a real push to keep up with the times- hence their recent partnership with The X Factor- M&S is a store which can fulfil everyone’s needs.

From spectacular foods and drinks, home furnishing and clothing for all- they now have on trend fashion collections which sit alongside more traditional ranges. M&S is living up to its iconic reputation.

Even better Marks and Spencer has a fantastic website, which I frequently use, selling everything which you will find in store plus online exclusives. Undoubtedly I’ll be visiting the site before Christmas… a forgotten gift, replenishing wrapping paper or delicious Christmas nibbles which will go down a treat.

Royal Mail- With Christmas fast approaching it’s a good idea to log onto the Royal Mail’s website to find out when you’re post deadline is for cards and parcels. It might be handy to note that many overseas deadlines are this week, which means that you really do need to get your Christmas wishes in the post soon if you’ve not already.

Royal Mail’s online Christmas tool is really efficient and easy to use. Simply select where you would like to send your post too and the service type (First Class, Second Class etc…) then click ‘find posting date’ and the site will calculate your deadline date.

Alternatively the Royal Mail has produced a ‘last posting date’ table which lists all dates and services accordingly.  I’ve printed this out and kept it in my organiser in case of any last minute emergency mail outs.

Remember ‘Post Early for Christmas’ as Royal Mail’s vintage poster campaign so famously said.

Marks and Spencer never fail in television advertising. Having created countless crackers with their hit team of advertising beauties – Twiggy, Lisa Snowden, Danni Minogue and Myleen Klass to name a few- this year’s Christmas advert is calling on fresh new talent from The X Factor.

Accompanying a festive scene of friends and family opening their favourite Christmas goodies, The X factor contestants collectively sing ‘When You Wish upon a Star’. Cleverly the advert is been continually edited reflecting the contestants who remain in the competition.

I’m very fond of M&S and think that the logic behind the advert is really inventive- collaborating with a group of people who are currently in the limelight is very forward thinking. Furthermore it’s incredibly festive. My only fear is that any controversy surrounding the show could reflect badly on M&S. Overall thought it is one of my favourites this Christmas.
