A year ago today everyone was struck with Royal Wedding fever. After organising street parties and hanging bunting, a billion people from across the world tuned in to watched Prince William marry Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey. In a service which was more perfect than anyone could have hoped for.

Happy Anniversary Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Twelve months on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have continued to captivate the world with royal engagements both here and abroad. In the most glorious manner we’ve watched the Duchess blossom into her position as a member of the Royal Family having become a patron to a number of charities and going it alone on official engagements. But most impressively, together, they have managed to add a breath of fresh air into the monarchy.

Time really does fly so from the Bath-Knight team and me, happy first Wedding Anniversary to Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Here’s to many more…

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Waxworks- Madame Tussauds

New waxwork figures of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been revealed at Madame Tussauds in London this morning. The figures, which depict the moment that the royal couple announced their engagement, are the first in a series which portray the royal couple in their first year of marriage.

After seeing photographs of the waxworks I was stunned to see just how realistic the figures look. Every single detail of the couple has been catered to from Prince Williams and Kate’s height, their clothing, hair, jewellery and even stance.

Kate’s waxwork sees her wearing the navy blue dress which women across the country rushed out to buy and the sapphire engagement ring, which previously belonged to Princess Diane. Whilst Prince William is dressed in a suit and tie to match what he wore on the day their engagement was announced and true to form even includes his fading head of hair.

I think that the figures are a lovely way to celebrate the couple’s first wedding anniversary and are the perfect photo opportunity for royal enthusiasts who may never get the chance to meet them in person.

Wills and Kate will be on display alongside other royal waxworks including figures of The Queen, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Prince Harry and the late Princess Diana. It’s also been noted that a new waxwork of The Queen will be created to note her Diamond Jubilee in the summer.

I’m sure that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will bring lots of visitors to Madame Tussauds.  I’d like to go along and see them for myself as the craft work put into creating these waxworks is fantastic. I’m truly intrigued to find out how Madame Tussauds artists create such magnificent pieces.  So if you’re heading to London for the Easter break check out Madame Tussauds– an indoor activity which is a great option if the weather doesn’t perk up.

Wimbledon-logoIt was great to see Prince William and his new wife Kate in the royal box at Wimbledon yesterday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at centre court unannounced to watch British number one Andy Murray. He successful got through to the quarter final joining the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

It was wonderful to see the royal support- Kate and Prince William even joined in a Mexican wave with fellow centre court spectators. I thought that Kate looked so stylish, dressed perfectly for Wimbledon in a traditional white outfit.

The tournament is getting more and more exciting as we get closer to the finals at the weekend. Yesterday’s day of play brought some unexpected action as number one in the world and 2010 Wimbledon champion, Nadal suffered an injury to his foot, and sad news for the Williams sisters as both Venus and Serena were out after their matches.

Keep up to date with Wimbledon on BBC channels. Today at Wimbledon is the ladies quarter finals.

President Obama and his wife Michelle are currently here in the UK on their first state visit to the country.

I am really delighted to see the media attention which the visit has brought, as not only are we getting at glimpse at the President but also the Royal Family.

The visit has seen the Obama’s spend time with both the Royal Family and members of Parliament.

Royal Banquet

Personally I was really delighted to see the return of the Dutch and Duchess of Cambridge, who meet with the President and First Lady in Buckingham Palace in their first public appearance since their honeymoon.

The Queens Banquet dinner, which was held, last night in the Palace Ball Room of Buckingham Place looked to be quite exquisite. With a star studded quest list of 171 including royalty, politicians, actors and businessmen. The event provides a great display of companionship from the American Head of State and HRH the Queen.

I’m really excited to read more about the visit hope you have enjoyed it too!

I previously blogged about traditions that are carried out at royal weddings and I am pleased to hear that Prince William’s bride Kate followed tradition and has displayed her wedding bouquet at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey.

Kate’s bouquet that included sweet William, as well as myrtle, lily-of-the-valley and hyacinth was returned to Westminster after the ceremony and put on display for the public to view along with other flowers and trees which the couple had at their wedding.

The tradition was set by the Queen Mother, who lay her bouquet down at the ceremony itself in honour of her brother. I was a little surprised to see that Kate did not do this too, however the bride travelled back to Buckingham Palace with her bouquet in hand and it was later returned to the Abbey.

The bouquet and a selection of other flowers will be on display in Westminster Abbey until 6th May.

It is wonderful to see the official royal wedding photographs of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The photos were taken by photographer Hugo Burnand shortly after the newlyweds arrive from their wedding service at Westminster Abbey.

Annette's Royal Wedding Plans

Prince william and Kate Middleton Lets celebrate Royal WeddingI’ve spent lots of time blogging about the Royal Wedding, including where to celebrate and how to make your day fantastic but I’m yet to comment on my plans for the royal occasion.

As the office is closed to celebrate the royal couple’s nuptials, I will be spending the day celebrating with friends.

Royal wedding celebrationsI and a group of my closest friends will be enjoying a wedding brunch complete with champagne to toast William and Kate. Hopefully the day will be made complete with beautiful weather so we can enjoy an afternoon in the garden enjoying the country’s new royal husband and wife.

I send my best wishes to Prince William and Kate Middleton and hope that they have a fabulous day and long, loving marriage.

Every detail of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and his bride to be Kate Middleton has been thought out with care and perfection. However, the only thing that can’t be controlled is the weather.

I’m sure that everyone will agree that beautiful sunshine on the day will make it extra special for everyone from the royal couple themselves to spectators in London, and spectators across the country who might be at street parties or celebrating in their gardens like myself.

rain or shine

From the gorgeous summer time weather, which we have seen across the country over the last week I feel optimistic that the weather will hold out until the big day.

To keep up to date with the forecast keep an eye out for 5 day forecasts for a general overview of the predicted weather, available at the MET Office and BBC Weather. For a more detailed forecast I will be checking out the MET office online forecast tomorrow evening.

Fingers crossed for lovely weather which will make for a fantastic day!
