I’m sure that many of you will have seen the great photographs of Prince William and his wife Kate as they landed in Canada yesterday for their first official royal tour.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they are now officially known, had a warm welcome from Canadians and today will be celebrating Canada’s 144th birthday as 1st July is Canada Day.

Kate Middleton Canada Day

I was fortunate enough to spend some of my childhood growing up in the beautiful country, and know that today is a really special occasion for Canadians as they celebrate the 1897 union of colonies which created Canada.

Luckily ‘Canada Day’ is a nation holiday so there is plenty of time to celebrate with BBQ’s, parades and a host of other festivities. I read that Prince William and Kate will be celebrating in Ottawa- hope they have a great time.

Celebrations don’t end in Canada. Here in the UK special Canada Day celebrations are taking place in one of London’s most recognised landmarks Trafalgar Square. Visitors can watch a classic Canadian hockey tournament, meet Canadian Paralympics and participate in lots of other fun Canadian themed activities.

Happy Canadian Day from myself and all at Bath-Knight!

Annette's websites of the week

National Vegetarian Society-

vegetarian societyAs you have probably gathered from my previous posts this week is National Vegetarian Week. I’ve posted my favourite veggie recipes to celebrate along with visiting The Vegetarian Society website to get more of an idea about the event and vegetarianism in general.

The site is really helpful with lots of information and advice for all different types of veggies- from those who have never eaten meat to people who are just considering changing their lifestyle to become a vegetarian.

My favourite aspect of this site is the ‘Community’ feature where visitors can register to join and from there become part of the online community. It’s great to see people who are so passionate about what they believe in.

Dobbies Garden Centre

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show has got everybody excited about getting into the garden. I’ve spent some time this week on the Dobbie Garden Centre website looking for a little inspiration to get my garden looking as spectacular as the designer gardens on display at the show.

dobbiesMy favourite part of the site is the online garden furniture catalogue, which allows you to flick the pages like it were an actual magazine. The tech savvy magazine showcases some beautifully decorative pieces for the garden. Perfect if you’re looking get your garden ready for summer.

Additionally, the site has dedicated its home page to ‘The Natasha Richardson Rose’ which is available to purchase online with proceeds going to the Make a Wish foundation.

The Official Website of The British Monarchy

Over the last couple of months I have found myself regularly visiting The British Monarchy website. The site is great for finding out historical facts and more in general about what the royal family are up to.

The British Monarchy Website

For occasions such as the royal wedding, and this week’s state visit from President Obama the site is wonderful as it is updated regularly with official information, facts and photographs.

The British Monarchy website can keep visitors entertained for hours with its sheer amount of insight into the history of the monarchy along with further information regarding patrons and charities. A brilliant source of information and a great way to learn more about the monarchy- Excellent!
