Only last week girl band Little Mix won The X Factor, which would normally guarantee them a number one Christmas hit. However, it would seem that The X Factor’s feathers may have been ruffled as another contender has risen to take hold of the top spot.

The Military Wives Choir was formed earlier this year by Gareth Malone for TV show ‘The Choir’. The group of women were all united because their husband, partners or boyfriend were serving in a 6 month tour of Afghanistan. With the help of Gareth the women were transformed into a wonderful choir who sing beautifully together.

After concluding the show with a performance at the Festival of Remembrance in The Royal Albert Hall, the choir has continued to see great success. With huge amounts of public support and bundles of positive media coverage, BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans has shown a phenomenal amount of support specifically, the wives are truly on the road to success.

Now The Military Wives Choir are favourites to become Christmas number one with their single ‘Wherever You Are’ a love song crafted around letters to and from the wives and their partners during their time apart. The genuinely heartfelt song was written by Royal Wedding composer Paul Mealor.

Although we were rooting for the Little Mix girls in the office during The X Factor I think that it would be absolutely fantastic if The Military Wives Choir topped the charts with a Christmas number one. It will be so refreshing to see such a personal and meaningful project generate such tremendous success especially at Christmas time.

This weekend The X Factor has dominated TV as the three remaining acts- Amelia Lily, Marcus Collins and Little Mix battled it out to win The X Factor 2011.

The finale show, which ran over both Saturday and Sunday evenings, saw numerous performances from the finalists including their favourite song from the series, a festive number and a collaborative performance with their respective mentors.

Alongside the finalists more established performers topped the lined up including former X Factor contestants JLS, Leona Lewis and One Direction, and a specular two song set from Coldplay who wonderful lit up Wembley Arena with their neon themed performance.

After Amelia Lily was eliminated on Saturday the final two places were left to Marcus Collins and Little Mix who both showcased the winner’s song- a cover version of Damien Rice’s Cannonball- on Sunday’s show.

It was girl band Little Mix who came out victorious winning the final public vote the girl band successfully created X Factor history becoming the first band ever to win the show. We’re all happy with the winners here in the Bath-Knight office as Little Mix have been our favourites throughout.

A big congratulation to Little Mix- we’re looking forward to seeing more of them in the New Year!

If like me you’ve missed a couple of episode from this year’s The X Factor the official website is packed with the latest news, previous performances and exclusive looks at the finalist which you won’t find elsewhere.

Additionally the site includes beauty and fashion tips with the help of The X Factor’s new partnerships including brands such as Rimmel London and Marks and Spencer. Overall the site is a real success and gives a great insight to the show- a must view site if you’re planning on watching this weekend’s final.

mands logoMarks and SpencerFor me and many of my friends Marks and Spencer is a safe haven, especially around Christmas time. With a real push to keep up with the times- hence their recent partnership with The X Factor- M&S is a store which can fulfil everyone’s needs.

From spectacular foods and drinks, home furnishing and clothing for all- they now have on trend fashion collections which sit alongside more traditional ranges. M&S is living up to its iconic reputation.

Even better Marks and Spencer has a fantastic website, which I frequently use, selling everything which you will find in store plus online exclusives. Undoubtedly I’ll be visiting the site before Christmas… a forgotten gift, replenishing wrapping paper or delicious Christmas nibbles which will go down a treat.

Royal Mail- With Christmas fast approaching it’s a good idea to log onto the Royal Mail’s website to find out when you’re post deadline is for cards and parcels. It might be handy to note that many overseas deadlines are this week, which means that you really do need to get your Christmas wishes in the post soon if you’ve not already.

Royal Mail’s online Christmas tool is really efficient and easy to use. Simply select where you would like to send your post too and the service type (First Class, Second Class etc…) then click ‘find posting date’ and the site will calculate your deadline date.

Alternatively the Royal Mail has produced a ‘last posting date’ table which lists all dates and services accordingly.  I’ve printed this out and kept it in my organiser in case of any last minute emergency mail outs.

Remember ‘Post Early for Christmas’ as Royal Mail’s vintage poster campaign so famously said.

Marks and Spencer never fail in television advertising. Having created countless crackers with their hit team of advertising beauties – Twiggy, Lisa Snowden, Danni Minogue and Myleen Klass to name a few- this year’s Christmas advert is calling on fresh new talent from The X Factor.

Accompanying a festive scene of friends and family opening their favourite Christmas goodies, The X factor contestants collectively sing ‘When You Wish upon a Star’. Cleverly the advert is been continually edited reflecting the contestants who remain in the competition.

I’m very fond of M&S and think that the logic behind the advert is really inventive- collaborating with a group of people who are currently in the limelight is very forward thinking. Furthermore it’s incredibly festive. My only fear is that any controversy surrounding the show could reflect badly on M&S. Overall thought it is one of my favourites this Christmas.
